Sheriff Dupnik Links Rush Limbaughs’ Words To Arizona Shooting Tragedy

This is from Sage at, copied in it’s entirety;

Bravo to Pima County Sheriff Dupnik for standing firm and not backing off from the truth.  He is, of course, correct that the vitriolic rhetoric is bad for the country.  We’ve all been putting up with this crap for years now and Rush Limbaugh is one of the worst for this kind of vitriol.

It’s really time for the sane people of this country to stand up and say no more.

Palin, Limbaugh, Beck and others can declare that they are now victims but they set themselves up for it.  Palin would never have had a finger pointed at her had she not used the irresponsible map with cross-hairs.  The media can claim it is from both the right and left but that doesn’t make it true.  There is no leftist equivalent of Limbaugh calling for the killing of liberals or Palin talking about being locked and loaded along with her now infamous map.  There is no leftist equivalent of Glenn Beck, Michael Savage or Ann Coulter.  Coulter, who said, “We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed, too.”

Nor have I seen signs like the ones below at liberal protests:

So, yes, finally liberals are standing up and saying no more.  And I think that’s a good thing.

“If this Congress keeps going the way it is, people are really looking toward those Second Amendment remedies.” – Sharron Angle

“I tell people don’t kill all the liberals. Leave enough so we can have two on every campus – living fossils – so we will never forget what these people stood for.”
– Rush Limbaugh, Denver Post, 12-29-95

“Get rid of the guy. Impeach him, censure him, assassinate him.”
– Rep. James Hansen (R-UT), talking about President Clinton

“We’re going to keep building the party until we’re hunting Democrats with dogs.”
– Senator Phil Gramm (R-TX), Mother Jones, 08-95

“My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building.”
– Ann Coulter, New York Observer, 08-26-02

Sheriff Dupnik Links Rush Limbaughs’ Words To Arizona Shooting Tragedy

Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik has been a vocal participant in the finger-pointing aftermath of the Arizona Shooting Tragedy, and in fact was the first to call out the “vitriolic rhetoric” as part of the reason behind the incident. He specifically called out conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, calling him “irresponsible” for the continuing vitriol. During and interview last night with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer, Dupnik doubled down on his critique of Limbaugh, to a surprised Sawyer who gave the Sheriff numerous opportunities to clarify his words.

Writing for ABC News blog, Sarah Netter reports:

“The kind of rhetoric that flows from people like Rush Limbaugh, in my judgment he is irresponsible, uses partial information, sometimes wrong information,” Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik said today. “[Limbaugh] attacks people, angers them against government, angers them against elected officials and that kind of behavior in my opinion is not without consequences.”

Limbaugh today railed against the media and Dupnik for trying to draw a link between the heated political climate and the shooting rampage, calling the sheriff a “fool.” But Dupnik stood by his assertions.

“The vitriol affects the [unstable] personality that we are talking about,” he said. “You can say, ‘Oh no, it doesn’t,’ but my opinion is that it does.”
